What is the Greek Golden Visa program?

The Greek Golden Visa is the residence permit provided by the Government of Greece to third country nationals (non-EU citizens), granting them the right to reside legally in Greece accompanied by their family members. The program was launched in 2013 (as amended in 2014 by Law 4251/2014) and is considered the most popular and cost-efficient investment visa programs in the EU.

All you need to do is invest a minimum amount of 250.000€ in Greek real estate. The Greek Golden Visa is issued for five years and can be renewed indefinitely, as long as you maintain the investment. It allows you to live in Greece, including your family, and travel across the Schengen area without a visa. After seven years of continuous residence in Greece, you can also apply for Greek citizenship.

3Investment Options

To apply for a Greek Golden Visa you need to make one of the following investments:

  • Purchase a real estate property worth at least 250.000€
  • Sign a lease agreement with a hotel or tourist establishment for at least 10 years
  • Make a capital investment of at least 400.000€ in a company registered in Greece
  • Make a 400.000€:
    a) investment in Greek government bonds
    b) investment in bonds or shares of real estate investment companies
    c) deposit in a Greek bank
  • Make an 800.000€ investment in corporate/government bonds
