Financially Independent Persons (FIP Visa Greece)
The Greek legal framework grants residence permits to third-country nationals and members of their families who have sufficient annual income and wish to retire or reside in Greece without working.
Key points
- Residency permit issued for a period of 2 years
- Possibility of renewal, as long as the holder of the residency permit maintains his/her income. It is required for its holder to reside in Greece for at least 6 months annually in order to qualify for the renewal.
- Third-country nationals may be accompanied by members of their family to whom an individual residence permit is granted, at their request, expiring together with the residence permit of the sponsor.
- The minimum required income is 2.000€/month, which is increased by 20% for the spouse and 15% for each child. The requirement of sufficient income shall be met either by each member of the family or for all family members as a whole.
Non-EU citizens having enough resources as a stable annual income for the coverage of their living expenses during their stay in Greece.

This residence permit is low cost, fast to obtain, short term and does not oblige you to have a property or investment. However, you have to prove that you have sufficient financial resources as a stable annual income that can support your annual personal & family expenditures, without being employed or have an independent economic activity in Greece.Indicatively ways of proving the amount of the income
Pension abroad, bank account statements, title deeds, lease contracts or/and any other proof sufficient for covering your living expenses during your stay in Greece. This evidence must prove:- the stability of your income
- the minimum monthly amount of your income
- the legal resources of the income
